Rachel’s Story

Rachel received the call to minister to women in June 2017 while living in Las Vegas. During a church prayer service, she asked the Lord one sincere question:

“Lord, what is my calling?”

Within seconds, she had a powerful encounter while praying. She saw the word WOMEN in bold, capital letters coming toward her from a distance. As it drew closer, the word became larger and larger until it filled her vision. In that moment, the Lord made His calling unmistakably clear.

A few months later, in July 2017, God opened the door for Rachel to lead a women’s Bible study. The fruit of her obedience and calling was undeniable. Souls were saved, lives were transformed and women grew in their relationship with the Lord. It became evident that ministering to women was exactly what God had called her to do.

In 2018, Rachel launched an online ministry called Dine With The King, another ministry that was birthed through prayer. Together with her sisters, she faithfully led the ministry for two years. Through weekly encouragement and biblical teaching, many people shared testimonies of how God used the ministry to strengthen their faith.

The ministry also launched its first outreach event called Gospel & Cookies. The goal of this outreach was to reach people in the streets and share the Gospel with homemade or store-bought cookies. Groups of women and children from Japan, Seattle, Hawaii, American Samoa, Australia, Georgia and Las Vegas participated, making it a successful outreach.

Rachel’s heart has always been for evangelism and women. She often told the team who served alongside her in Dine With The King that one day they would host conferences for women that would bring glory to God. It was something she believed wholeheartedly, and she was encouraged by a dream her Auntie Glorie Tiumalu shared with her. In the dream, Glorie saw a room filled with women attending a conference that Rachel would one day host.

Toward the end of 2019, the church that Rachel and her family had faithfully been a part of since 2012 experienced a painful split. It was one of the hardest seasons of their lives because serving that church and community was all they had known. They lived and breathed to serve their local church and see lives changed, first in Hawaii and then in Las Vegas.

A few months after the split, Rachel and her husband no longer felt called to remain in Las Vegas. They were encouraged to move to Columbus, Georgia, to be closer to family.

It was during that time that COVID began. Between the move, the uncertainty and the many trials that followed, Rachel’s marriage and family nearly fell apart. During that season, Dine With The King was no longer a ministry she desired to lead because she herself was fighting personal battles.

From 2020–2021 was one of the darkest seasons of Rachel’s life. Her marriage was nearly over, her husband battled alcoholism and Rachel was hanging on by a thread, trying to stay afloat. She couldn’t believe that she had once served as a leader in her church, preached multiple times, led women’s Bible studies and launched an online ministry. Her life felt shattered. At one point, she even attempted to leave her family and move to another state.

The calling upon her life wasn’t even a thought anymore. For years, she wanted nothing to do with the microphone, the spotlight, the platform or leading from the front. She despised the thought of ever returning to that place and vowed to herself that she would never again do ministry in that capacity.

In 2021, Rachel and her family joined The River of Columbus Church. For about a year, they simply attended church week after week without serving. Although it was a much-needed season of healing and restoration, Rachel eventually knew she couldn’t remain on the sidelines. She had spent years teaching others the importance of serving in the local church, and she knew she needed to do the same.

In early 2022, Rachel stepped out and began serving in the children’s ministry. It was a ministry she had never served in before, but she quickly fell in love with it. After everything she had been through, she was content serving faithfully behind the scenes. Her loyalty was to God, and she believed that as long as she faithfully served His house, that was enough. She wanted nothing to do with the microphone, the spotlight or pursuing greater works.

Later that year, Rachel was asked to lead a Mom Squad Connect Group. Because she believed so strongly in the importance of serving her local church and honoring her pastors, she gladly accepted. She faithfully led the group and was completely content in that season.

Occasionally, when someone spoke about the anointing on her life or reminded her of the calling God had placed on her, Rachel would simply shrug her shoulders and say with conviction,

“I’ll never be that woman again. I’m fine and content right where I’m at—a wife, a mom and faithfully serving in my local church.”

Then, in 2024, God spoke again.

During her second-year Bible school orientation, as her pastor prayed over the students before dismissing everyone, Rachel closed her eyes to pray. Suddenly she saw a beautiful field stretching before her, filled with blooming pink flowers. It was breathtaking. As she looked over the field, the Lord spoke one word to her once again:

WOMEN

Instantly she recognized the same voice that had called her in 2017. She knew the call to women had never left and immediately sensed that one day it would extend beyond the four walls of her local church.

Moments later, she opened the envelope from her Bible school dean informing her who had been selected to mentor her. To her amazement, the card specifically stated that she would be mentored in women’s ministry and evangelism by both of her pastors.

It was yet another confirmation of the calling God had spoken over her life years earlier.

Yet despite those confirmations, Rachel still struggled to believe God could use her again. She continued wrestling with the disappointment surrounding Dine With The King, viewing it as a failed ministry. She loved the Lord with all her heart and faithfully served Him, but she no longer desired to be used publicly in a greater capacity.

In January 2025, Rachel and her husband committed to a 21-day fast. She entered the fast praying specifically for her family and for the desires God had placed in her husband’s heart.

She never imagined God would use that fast to completely redirect her own life.

During the fast, the Lord continually brought Jeremiah 29:11 to her heart in a way she had never experienced before.

The Lord reminded Rachel that His plans had not changed. His calling had not changed. He still had a future for her in ministry.

Throughout the fast, the Lord repeatedly impressed upon her heart that she needed to attend a women’s conference with one purpose—to receive.

For days she tried to determine whose conference she was supposed to attend. She assumed it would be Carolyn Shuttlesworth or Adonica Browne, women she admired and regularly listened to, but every time she considered them, she had no peace.

Then one morning while watching Adalis Shuttlesworth lead prayer during the fast, something unexpected happened.

Although Adalis wasn’t someone Rachel naturally gravitated toward, tears immediately began flowing uncontrollably. She knew without question that the Lord was calling her to go see and receive from Adalis with urgency.

During that very broadcast, Adalis announced the Reign Tour.

Rachel immediately texted her husband and told him she was flying by herself to one of the tour cities for just one day. She knew she had to be there and was willing to do whatever it took to receive what God had for her.

In March 2025, Rachel attended the Reign Conference in Texas. During a time of impartation, Adalis prayed over her and declared,

“I command you to be anointed.”

That evening, Adalis preached on believers being called to greater works and doing mighty exploits for the Kingdom of God. Rachel left knowing that God had awakened something that had been dormant for years. Although she had no idea what was next, she believed by faith that God was calling her into something greater.

A short time later, on May 1, 2025, during a women’s gathering at The River of Columbus Church, Rachel’s Women’s Pastor, Lacy Coley, spoke a prophetic word over her, telling her that the same way she looked up to people of faith, she would one day become one herself.

Rachel chose to believe the words that had been spoken over her. She held tightly to the impartation she had received from both Adalis and Pastor Lacy and was determined to wage the good warfare over the prophetic words spoken concerning her.

Then one day in June 2025, while spending time with the Lord in prayer, the Lord gave Rachel one word:

VIGILANT

As she continued to press into prayer, the Lord gave her greater clarity. To her surprise, He was birthing a ministry that would be called:

Vigilant Mama

Out of that encounter, Vigilant Mama was born.

In July 2025, Rachel stepped out in faith by launching a simple four-week online Bible study with just a few moms. As she continued to obey the Lord, He continued to open doors.

In October 2025, Rachel wrote the 28-Day Vigilant Mama Devotional to accompany the online program. What began with one small group eventually grew into additional Fall and Winter sessions.

In May 2026, she released the Vigilant Mama Workbook, equipping women not only to study God’s Word but also to confidently lead their own small groups using the devotional and workbook together. The online four-week program no longer depended on Rachel to lead it. Women could now disciple other women using the devotional and workbook. Because of Rachel’s faithfulness in stewarding what God first gave her, God called her to step into even greater things.

On May 2, 2026, Rachel stepped out in faith and hosted the very first Vigilant Mama event in Columbus, Georgia.

In June 2026, Rachel was officially ordained as a minister, one year after graduating with ministry honors from The River of Columbus Bible Institute with a two-year degree in Biblical Studies.

Today, Rachel faithfully continues to steward what God has placed in her hands through Vigilant Mama, while also faithfully serving in her local church, mentoring women at a pro-life clinic and teaching God’s Word to children through International Friendship Ministries.

Rachel’s prayer is that every woman would have the courage to say yes to whatever the Lord is calling her to do. No matter what your past may look like, failure does not disqualify you from God’s purpose.
